Clemson responded with a 67-yard touchdown pass from Lawrence to Rodgers to gain a 7-3 lead in the final minutes of the first quarter. Another long touchdown pass, this time Lawrence to E.J. Williams increased the Tigers lead to 14-3 in the second quarter.
A 44-yard scamper to the end zone from Travis Etienne gave the Tigers a 24-3 lead heading into halftime, the largest deficit of the season for the Irish.
In the second half, the Tigers extended their lead and did not allow the Irish to get back into the game. The Irish will await their postseason hopes starting on Sunday afternoon as bowl announcements will begin to be made.
