Tailgating

Tailgating is permitted in all University lots and permitted spaces for the Notre Dame Football Season. Parking lots open at 8:00 am for all fan parking.

 

General Information

  • Gates open at 8:00 am on all football home games regardless of kickoff time.
  • Guests are not allowed to save spaces prior to lots opening.
  • Zipper parking will start at 9:00 am.
  • Mobile passes will be used for all fan parking lots, but Pay to Park lots are cashless.
  • Parking passes are valid for one vehicle spot. Vehicles and/or associated tailgates should not take up more than one space. Guests who violate this policy will be subject to immediate removal.
  • Vehicles are not required and individuals may possess more than one (1) pass.
  • Gate 9 of the Joyce Center will open its restrooms from 10am. Doors will close at the start of the game.
  • All lots close three (3) hours after the end of the game, except for the Burke Golf Course which closes two (2) hours post game.

Permitted Items & Activities
  • Tailgating is allowed in all game day fan parking lots
  • Propane grills are permitted, but propane cylinders/tanks must be less than 20 lbs.
  • Tents/Canopies that are 10×10 or smaller
Prohibited Items & Activities
  • Overnight parking is prohibited in all lots. All vehicles will be towed from game day parking lots beginning at 6 am.
  • Saving spaces is prohibited once zipper parking is in effect
  • Tailgating is not allowed during the game in any campus lot or green space unless approved by the University
  • Tailgating and alcohol are NOT permitted in the central part of campus unless approved by the University
  • Excessive amounts of alcohol
  • Amplified Sound – Speakers that stand alone, are excessively loud or are connected to an amplifier
    • Live bands or DJs are also not permitted
  • Golf carts, and other custom motorized vehicles are not permitted on the Notre Dame campus unless authorized by Notre Dame Police Department.
  • Charcoal grills, fire pits, open flames, and propane heaters are prohibited
  • Deep-frying (i.e. turkeys) is prohibited in tailgating lots
  • Drones are not permitted to fly on campus without University and FAA approval
  • Kegs
  • Open flames, including fire pits
  • Propane cylinders larger than 20 lbs
  • Tent stakes
  • Safety and security rules will be strictly enforced and violators may be removed for failing to comply.
  • Future ticket privileges may be revoked for violations on the prohibited items
  • Tents, tables, chairs, and other items cannot protrude into the driving lanes past the hash marks
  • Large parties are not permitted on campus, including the parking lots
  • Drinking games are not permitted anywhere on campus
  • Weapons are not permitted anywhere on campus

Notre Dame’s Senior Executive Chef, Travis Johnson, will select the best of the best! The winner’s recipe will be showcased at one of the concession stands for the last home game (Wake Forest) and will be highlighted on this webpage.

Chef Travis works with local farms across Indiana and surrounding area to bring local, fresh and sustainable ingredients to the campus of Notre Dame.  He is determined to continue developing programs, bringing his guests closer to their ingredients by sharing where and how the ingredients are sourced.
