Clear Bag Policy

As a part of our ongoing commitment to safety and security, aligning with the best practices at major entertainment and athletics venues, the University of Notre Dame has instituted a Clear Bag Policy for Notre Dame Stadium, including Corbett Family Hall, O’Neill Hall, and Duncan Student Center during home game Saturdays and varsity sporting events in all athletics facilities.

General Policies and Information

The University of Notre Dame is committed to providing full access to services during all Fighting Irish home football games. If you anticipate that you or a family member may require accommodations for a disability (visible or invisible) to fully participate, please click here for more information.

Beer, wine, and seltzer products are available for purchase in general concession stands throughout Notre Dame Stadium concourses. Please review below or click here for more information. 

  • All guests must be 21 years of age to purchase an alcoholic beverage.
  • Alcohol service will be discontinued at the end of the 3rd quarter.
  • There is a 2 alcoholic beverage limit, per person, per identification. If an individual is already in possession of one beverage, they will only be permitted to purchase one additional beverage.
  • A valid I.D. is required for purchase. A guest that appears to be 30 years of age or younger must produce a valid form of acceptable identification.
  • Acceptable forms of valid United States identification for alcoholic beverage purchases are: United States Driver’s License, State issued I.D. w/photo, Military I.D. w/photo, Passport, Passport I.D. Card, Mexican Consular Card
  • No sales will be made to fans that are visibly intoxicated
  • Government Warning: According to the Surgeon General, women should not drink alcoholic beverages during pregnancy because of the risk of birth defects.

Vendor and concession stands inside Notre Dame Stadium are cashless.  Payment options include credit or debit cards, Apple and Android Pay. 

All campus dining outlets outside the stadium are cashless as well. Guests may place orders through the Grubhub app and kiosks.

Notre Dame is Committed to:

  • Respectful Behavior. Fans are expected to be courteous to fellow attendees, including fans of the opposing team, and to stadium personnel.
  • Appropriate Language. Foul, abusive, or obscene language and gestures are not tolerated.
  • Responsible Alcohol Consumption. Intoxication or other signs of alcohol impairment leading to irresponsible behavior can result in consequences, including ejection.
  • Safety. Fans are expected to follow instructions from Notre Dame staff and stadium personnel.
  • Respect for the Game. Interfering with the progress of the game, such as throwing objects onto the field, is prohibited.
  • Enthusiastic Fan Support. While standing and cheering is encouraged, fans are asked to be mindful of others

Guests not adhering to Notre Dame Stadium’s Courtesy Guidelines will be subject to sanctions, including, refusal of admittance, removal, and/or arrest.

Notre Dame Stadium Gates A, B, C, D, and E open 90 minutes prior to kickoff each Game Day.

Duncan Student Center, Corbett Family Hall, and O’Neill Hall hospitality doors open 2 hours prior to kickoff each Game Day.

The University’s Guest Services Teams are committed to making the Game Day experience at Notre Dame Stadium the best in the country. Every home game weekend, these representatives come from across the United States to assist guests in the most hospitable way. They will assist with directions, distribute Game Day information, and answer any questions that one may have on a football Saturday at Notre Dame. The Guest Services Team members are here to help make your football game weekend memorable.

Notre Dame Stadium utilizes metal detectors at all entrances. 

After having clear bags checked, guests will pass through the metal detectors and then have tickets scanned for entry to the venue. Entrants will not be required to remove belts, cell phones, coins, jackets, jewelry, watches, wallets, shoes or other small objects.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early at the venue to ensure a sufficient amount of time for screening.

Get Prepared with ND Alert. Opt-in for all home games while you’re on campus to stay-up-to-date on any emergency or severe weather communications. Text UNDFANS to CAMPUS (226787).

  • When sustained winds reach 31 MPH or more, and/or gusts exceed 45 MPH, pop-up tents, tailgating equipment, and temporary structures must be taken down.
  • Severe Thunderstorm Watch: If conditions are favorable for hail 1″ or larger and winds of 58 MPH or more, guests must begin tearing down tents and equipment.
  • Severe Thunderstorm Warning: If a storm is producing or expected to produce damaging hail and high winds, guests must tear down tents and equipment immediately. Fans should identify shelter locations, including vehicles as shelter.
  • Tornado Watch: If conditions are favorable for tornado development, fans must begin tearing down tents and equipment. Fans should identify shelter locations, including vehicles and nearby buildings.
  • Tornado Warning: If a tornado is spotted or indicated by radar, guests must immediately tear down tents and equipment. Fans must seek shelter in vehicles or nearby buildings.

In the event of an emergency, follow guidance at emergency.nd.edu @NotreDame or @NotreDameHospitality on Facebook and X/Twitter, the stadium videoboard, or from the public address announcer. For in-stadium assistance on home football Gamedays guests can call 574-631-8895.

The following items are permitted at Notre Dame Stadium:

  • Binoculars
  • Blankets
  • *Cameras with lenses shorter than six (6) inches (without cases, must adhere to Clear Bag Policy)
  • CDC approved masks
  • Cell phones
  • Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags that do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” with logo on one side only to not exceed 4.5” x 3.4”
  • Clutch bag, with or without handle/strap, or wallet not to exceed 4.5” x 6.5”
  • *Collapsible umbrellas
  • Empty (non-glass) water vessel (i.e. personal water bottle, Yeti cup, etc.)
  • *Hand-held radios
  • Hand sanitizer (not to exceed 4 oz.)
  • Heated apparel (jackets, gloves, etc.)
  • Medical bags or equipment (subject to additional screening)
  • One-gallon clear plastic bags (such as Ziploc or Hefty)
  • Pumps for nursing mothers (subject to additional screening)
  • Seat cushions not to exceed 16” x 16”
  • *Small umbrellas

*Cameras, hand-held radios, and collapsible umbrellas are allowed as long as they do not compromise the view or experience of others. Permitted items above, including diapers, wipes, and other supplies for babies and small children, should be placed in an approved clear bag.

Weapons of any kind are prohibited on campus.

The following items are prohibited at Notre Dame Stadium:

  • Aerosol cans or bottles
  • Animals (Service Dogs are permitted)
  • Artificial noisemakers (including whistles)
  • Bags and containers that do not meet the Clear Bag Policy
  • Bottles of water
  • Drones or Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)
  • Fireworks or explosives
  • Glass bottles
  • Golf umbrellas
  • Halloween-style masks
  • Laser or pen pointers
  • Large / non collapsible umbrellas
  • Obstructive cameras or selfie sticks
  • Outside alcohol or alcohol containers
  • Outside food or beverage (exceptions can be made for Dietary Restrictions, upon approval)
  • Projectors/projection devices
  • Signs, banners, and balloons
  • Stadium chairs or seat backs (unless medical reason with documentation, or as a part of the stadium rental program)
  • Strollers
  • The throwing of any object at any time (including footballs)
  • Use of tobacco products and e-cigarettes
  • Use or possession of marijuana, and other illegal drugs
  • Any other items deemed dangerous or inappropriate

Future ticket privileges may be revoked for violations of the prohibited item policy.

Notre Dame is proud to offer a dedicated sensory room inside Notre Dame Stadium. The space provides a safe, quiet, and calming environment for fans with sensory processing needs, ensuring an inclusive game day experience for all guests.  The room is located off the upper east concourse, near section 108, in Corbett Family Hall. The room will be open and staffed by LOGAN professionals, for four hours each game day, beginning 90 minutes prior to kickoff (when stadium gates and concourses open), through the end of the third-quarter.

Sensory bags will continue to be available for check-out at our Guest Services booths located throughout the stadium.  

Animals are not permitted in Notre Dame Stadium, except for service animals or service animals in training that accompany individuals with disabilities. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) defines ‘service animals’ as ‘dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities.’ Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA and, therefore, are not permitted.

See an usher if a Service Animal needs to visit a relief area (for exit and re-entry purposes).

Regardless of age, a ticket is required for entry. Only tickets purchased directly from the University of Notre Dame or through SeatGeek, the official ticket marketplace of Notre Dame Athletics, are guaranteed. Tickets purchased via other resell sites (StubHub, Vivid, Ticketmaster, etc.) or individuals cannot be validated and may not be honored. Buyers assume all risk if purchasing tickets from non-SeatGeek resell sites or individuals. Please be aware of our Ticket Terms and Conditions.

The 20 AEDs are deployed with our first aid teams on gameday and are located throughout the stadium including the premium spaces.

Accessibility/ADA

Alcohol & Alcohol Containers

Outside alcoholic beverages and alcohol containers are NOT permitted to be brought into Notre Dame Stadium.

Alumni Association

Amplified Sound

Music must be confined to the tailgate area and speakers must be directed into the tailgate party. Tailgaters should contact Notre Dame Police at (574) 631-5555 when music from another tailgate party becomes a nuisance.

Artificial Noisemakers

Notre Dame Athletics does not permit artificial noisemakers to be brought into or used in Notre Dame Stadium. Anyone found violating this policy is subject to ejection.

Cameras with lenses no longer than six (6) inches are permitted in Notre Dame Stadium for both fans and working media. Camera bags are NOT permitted (see Clear Bag Policy).

Captioning

Captioning will be provided on a portion of both the east and west ribbon boards. The captioning will be provided for all spoken words that come through the in-stadium sound system.

Cashless

Vendor and concession stands inside Notre Dame Stadium are cashless.  Payment options include credit or debit cards, Apple and Android Pay. There is a reverse ATM located inside the Duncan Student Center on the first floor. Ticketed guests in the main bowl will need a staff escort to exit the stadium and re-enter.

Child and Infant Admission

All persons, regardless of age, must present a ticket for admission to Notre Dame Stadium.

Deep Fryers are not allowed while tailgating.

Diapers and baby items must be carried in a permissible clear tote bag no larger than 12” x 6” x 12”.

Dining on Campus

Drones

The use and/or operation of remote-controlled equipment/cameras/toys/aircraft (including all drones and unmanned aircraft systems) is strictly prohibited on all areas of the Notre Dame Campus without University and FAA approval. This includes gamedays and any time during gameday related activities.

Eck Visitors Center

Elevators

Elevators to access the stadium upper level are located on the east side of the stadium near Sections 10/11, and on the west side of the stadium near Sections 29/30.

Evacuation Procedures

Should there be a need for an evacuation, Notre Dame Ushers will be responsible to provide and execute general crowd control guidance and supervision.

Football Fridays at the Eck

Gates Open

Premium Doors (Doors 3, 4, 10, 14, & 17) open 2 hours prior to kickoff. Premium guests must enter the door provided on their mobile ticket.

All Other Gates open 90 minutes prior to kickoff. Guests should enter the suggested gate listed on their mobile ticket.

Golden Dome

Golf Cart Policy

Transportation Services coordinates all golf cart purchases and rentals for the University. Rentals are for the exclusive use of University personnel engaged in University business activities only.
All golf carts must be registered with Transportation Services. No unregistered carts are permitted on campus.

Grills

Propane grills are permitted, but propane cylinders/tanks must be less than 20 pounds.

Charcoal grills, fire pits, open flames, deep- frying and propane heaters are prohibited.

Lactation Room

Before gates open, the Lactation Room on the 5th floor of Hesburgh Library is available for use. See a security monitor on the 1st floor for access to the space. After gates open, Duncan W211, Corbett E475, and Corbett E469C will be available as private area to nurse or pump. Please see an usher for access to these spaces.

Please note: The University of Notre Dame is unable to store pumps or breast milk during the game. First Aid rooms are happy to provide guest with ice for their personal storage of milk. Pumps for nursing mothers will be subject to additional screening.

Lost and Found

During the game, lost and found is located in Room 1235 in the West Concourse. During the week, lost and found is located just off the main lobby of the NDPS in Hammes Mowbray Hall. To ask if your item has been turned in, please call (574) 631-3231.

Mobile Ticketing

The Murnane Family Ticket Office is located on the first floor of the Purcell Pavilion. The office is open from 9 am until 5 pm and guests may call 574-631-7356 for assistance. On game day, ticket resolution booths are available at gates B and D of Notre Dame Stadium. Hours of operation are three (3) hours prior to kickoff. More information can be found here.

Player Walk (Victory March)

Fans can gather to watch Coach Freeman and the Fighting Irish march from the Basilica of the Sacred Heart into Notre Dame Stadium, approximately two hours prior to kickoff. This festive event also features performances by the Notre Dame Band, Glee Club, Cheer Team, and Bagpipe Band at the Hesburgh Library Reflecting Pool.

Police Department (NDPD)

Re-entry/Exit

Notre Dame Stadium does NOT permit passes out of the stadium for re-entry. Anyone leaving the stadium must have a new/unused ticket to return into the stadium.

Recycling

If you have a designated tailgating spot: Dispose of your recyclables by placing them in one of the clear bags that is provided to you by Sustainability Green Team members at the entrance to designated lots. Anything that can be recycled as single-stream can be placed in the clear bags (paper, cardboard, plastic, and aluminum cans).

Everything else is considered trash and should be placed in the black bag provided to you. You may also use your own black bags. Anything not in a clear bag is considered trash.

Prior to kickoff, leave both bags behind your vehicle, and they will be picked up during the game. It is helpful to leave the clear bag untied so staff can easily remove the materials.

If you are walking around the lots and other parts of campus: Dispose of your recyclables in the blue barrels labeled with a recycling symbol. Everything else should go in the white barrels labeled “landfill.”

Safe in the Seat

Parents/Guardians may obtain a Safe in the Seat wristband from any Guest Services booth and place it on the wrist of their dependents. In the event of a separation, stadium personnel will use the wristband to reunite families.

Seat Cushions & Chair Backs

Seat cushions are available for purchase at Gates A, B, C, & D.

  • You can purchase a seat cushion for $15 starting when gates open through the end of the 1st quarter
  • Any seat or that impedes on the comfort and enjoyment of a fan in an adjacent seat (in front, behind or to the side) is prohibited
  • Only stadium seat cushions no wider than 16’’ with no pockets or compartments will be admitted
  • Chairbacks are not permitted in Notre Dame Stadium unless medical reason with documentation or a part of the stadium rental program

Seat Geek

The Seat Geek Notre Dame Ticket Marketplace is the official venue for our valued Notre Dame fans to buy and sell their tickets for games. It is the ONLY secondary market where you are ensured of buying valid tickets in a transaction full supported by Notre Dame Athletics.

Security

Notre Dame Police Department (Campus Police), along with outside agencies, maintain overall control of security and traffic on campus. All emergency response actions are coordinated through NDPD and stadium operations. Monterrey Security Staff provide customer service and general crowd control inside the hospitality areas and at all security check points.

Smoking and the use of all tobacco products is prohibited. This includes cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco, snuff, pipes and chewing tobacco.

Video cameras and video camera stands are not permitted in Notre Dame Stadium except for credentialed news media.

Wheelchairs

  • Assisted Wheelchair Transport: The University has wheelchairs available to transport guests with mobility issues to and from their seats, though they cannot remain with guests. See an Usher or GST to request this service in Notre Dame Stadium.
  • Gates: All guests must go through security to enter the stadium. If you have a larger wheelchair, please see one of the Guest Service Team members (in green coats) available at each of the stadium gates. They will assist you in entering the line with an appropriate metal detector.
  • Rental/Storage: The University is unable to provide guests with wheelchairs, scooters, or walkers, or store those items belonging to guests during events.
  • Tickets: Reserved seating areas for patrons utilizing a wheelchair or scooter or for those with mobility limitations are located throughout the stadium. Seating is available to patrons and one companion. Please contact the ticket office at 574-631-7356 for seating availability in these areas.
