GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team enters the final day of competition at the 2018 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Swimming and Diving Championships with its eyes set on the top five of the leaderboard. Following Friday racing, the Irish sit in sixth place with 519.50 points, a mere 20 points from reaching the top five teams in the championship meet.
The fourth and final day of the 2018 ACC Championships is set to commence on Saturday inside the Greensboro Aquatic Pavilion, with the women’s 200 backstroke leading off the morning prelim heats.

“It was very competitive for us on this third day of the meet. We had 14 swims this evening and placed two of our divers in the top 20. We are in a tightly packed group jockeying for fourth place (just 51 points behind North Carolina).”

Top Irish Performances
Women’s 100 Butterfly – Erin Sheehan claimed the top time in the event final for Notre Dame, placing 10th with an NCAA B-cut of 52.57. Nicole Smith was 13th with an NCAA B-cut of 53.01, followed by Sofia Revilak in 15th place in 53.62 (NCAA B-cut of 53.13 in prelims). Cailey Grunhard took 16th place in 53.90 (NCAA B-cut of 53.53 in prelims), and Rachel Wittmer was 20th in 54.11 (NCAA B-cut of 53.95 in prelims).
Women’s 400 IM – Reilly Lanigan swam to a 33rd-place finish with a time 4:28.57.
Women’s 200 Freestyle – Abbie Dolan swam a 2017 NCAA invite time of 1:44.90 to take seventh place in the event final. Lauren Heller finished 16th with a time of 1:47.11 (NCAA B-cut of 1:46.70 in prelims), while Kyra Sarazen placed 18th with a finals swim of 1:46.94 for an NCAA B-cut. Skylar Fore added a 23rd-place finish for the Irish in 1:47.94 (NCAA B-cut time of 1:47.26 in prelims).
Women’s 100 Breaststroke – Meaghan O’Donnell was the top Notre Dame finisher in eighth place with a time of 1:01.09 (NCAA B-cut time of 1:00.75 in prelims). Sherri McIntee was 23rd with a finals time of 1:02.57.
Women’s 100 Backstroke – Carly Quast earned an eighth-place finish with a time of 53.02 (NCAA B-cut of 52.63 in prelims). Alice Treuth claimed 12th place with a time of 53.42 (NCAA B-cut time of 53.12 in prelims), and Sofia Revilak was 19th with an NCAA B-cut time of 53.22.
Women’s 400 Medley Relay – Notre Dame’s Carly Quast, Meaghan O’Donnell, Erin Sheehan and Abbie Dolan posted a seventh-place finish with a time of 3:34.93.
Women’s 3-Meter Diving – Claire Andrews scored 272.10 points to finish in 14th place. Erin Isola scored 262.75 points to place 17th.
