Irish Back on the Road

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – With all home matches in the rear view mirror for the rest of the season, the University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team will be on the road for the final three regular season matches and postseason play. The start of that stretch begins this weekend as the Fighting Irish take on Clemson and Georgia Tech.

On Friday, the match against Clemson will take place in South Carolina at 5 p.m. The #58 ranked Tigers come into the weekend with an even 10-10 record but only a 1-7 record in ACC play. Their lone ACC win is against Boston College who the Irish beat last weekend at home.

On Easter Sunday, a noon first serve is set in Atlanta as Notre Dame will take on Georgia Tech who sits with a balanced overall record as well, 11-11. In conference play, they have a 2-6 record with wins over Boston College and Clemson. The Yellow Jackets are led by a trio of ranked singles players including the #7 ranked singles player in the country. Their top doubles pairing is also nationally ranked.

Notre Dame, ranked #54 this week, enters the weekend having won their last two matches to get themselves one match over .500 for the season at 12-11. They are led by freshman phenom Sebastian Dominko who moved up to #18 in the national singles rankings this week. He and partner Connor Fu check in at #29 in doubles as well.

Last year, the Irish won both of the matches played on their home courts with a 4-3 win over Georgia Tech followed by a 4-1 win over Clemson.
