Callahan Picks Up ACC Defensive Player Of The Week Honors

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – After backstopping her team to a 7-5 victory at No. 7 North Carolina, Lilly Callahan was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday March 5.

The senior goalie for the Irish recorded nine saves in the women’s lacrosse team’s victory over the Tar Heels, marking their first win over UNC in Chapel Hill in program history.

Callahan held the Tar Heels offense to just two goals in the final 30 minutes of action Saturday afternoon and stopped six shots in the latter stages of the game to seal the victory for the Irish and improve to 5-1 on the season.

The conference honor is Callahan’s first of the season and the third recognition for a member of the Notre Dame women’s lacrosse team.
