Four Irish Named to Initial Tewaaraton Watch List

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Andie Aldave, Kasey Choma, Bridget Deehan and Kathleen Roe were each named to the initial watch list for the 2021 Tewaaraton Award, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced Thursday afternoon (March 11).

Aldave, a 2019 Tewaaraton Award nominee, has been named to the watch list for the third consecutive season while Deehan and Roe each make their second consecutive appearance on the list.

ABOUT ALDAVE
Aldave, a Preseason Inside Lacrosse and U.S. Lacrosse Magazine All-American, leads the Irish with eight draw controls in two games. In 2020, Aldave led the Irish with 35 draw controls and finished second on the team with 17 goals en route to being named a First Team IL All-American a season ago.

ABOUT CHOMA
Choma ranks second on the Irish with six goals in two games while adding three draw controls, a ground ball and a caused turnover. A season ago, Choma led Notre Dame with 22 goals and was named an ILThird Team All-American as a freshman. She was also named a Preseason IL All-American ahead of the 2021 season. 

ABOUT DEEHAN
Deehan, who was named U.S. Lacrosse Magazine’s Preseason Goaltender of the Year, currently leads the nation in both save percentage (.750) and goals-against average (3.18) after two games. Deehan closed the 2020 season ranked fifth in the country with a save percentage of .547. and seventh in the nation with a goals-against average of 7.78. She earned First Team IL All-American accolades in 2020 and was a Preseason IL All-American in 2021.

ABOUT ROE
Roe has racked up five draw controls, four caused turnovers and three ground balls in two contests this year. A 2021 Preseason IL All-American, Roe is part of an Irish defense that currently leads the nation with a mark of 3.50 goals allowed per game and second in the country with an average of 14 caused turnovers per game.  She also earned 2021 Preseason All-ACC honors.
