SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame softball team will head to Blacksburg, Virginia to open Atlantic Coast Conference play this weekend. The Fighting Irish enter the weekend with an 8-5 record, coming off of a doubleheader sweep of Oregon State and Utah to close out the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic last weekend.
Virginia Tech comes in sporting a ranking in the top 25 in four polls, ranking 20th in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, 23rd in the USA Today/Coaches poll, 16th in D1Softball.com, and 14th by Softball America. The Hokies are currently 12-3-1, coming off of a 4-0-1 weekend with wins over No. 3 Georgia and Dartmouth and two over Radford.
Games are scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 6 p.m., 2 p.m., and noon, respectively. All games will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra, and live stats will also be available. Links for each of those services are on the Notre Dame Softball schedule page.
