NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The men’s lacrosse season is just around the corner, as the 2022 ACC Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll was announced this week. Notre Dame was slotted third in the annual rankings. The Irish had four players selected to the Preseason All-ACC Team, more than any other team in the league.
Baumer Family Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Kevin Corrigan‘s Fighting Irish received 16 points in balloting among the ACC’s five head coaches. Virginia took the top spot with 23 points with Duke placing second with 17 points. North Carolina (12) was picked fourth and Syracuse (7) fifth.
All five ACC teams are ranked in the top 12 in Inside Lacrosse’s Face-Off Yearbook Top 20 poll. Notre Dame enters the season ranked No. 5 with Virginia starting at No. 1. Duke comes in at No. 3 with North Carolina close behind at No. 6. Syracuse earned the No. 12 ranking in the preseason poll.
Representing Notre Dame, 2021 Tewaaraton Finalist junior attackman Pat Kavanagh, senior defenseman Arden Cohen, junior goalie Liam Entenmann and graduate student SSDM Ryan Hallenbeck were selected to the Preseason All-ACC Team.
The Fighting Irish appeared in the NCAA Tournament for the 15th straight year in 2021. Notre Dame finished with an 8-4 overall record, which included a run to the NCAA Championship quarterfinals.
The 2022 men’s lacrosse season gets underway at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, February 19, as the Irish play Detroit Mercy in Loftus Sports Center on the Notre Dame campus.
