Irish Return to Links at Spartan Collegiate

Notre Dame 1-of-16 teams in Sea Island

SEA ISLAND, Ga. – After a month off from official competition, the Notre Dame men’s golf team is ready to return to the links for a competitive spring slate ahead, starting with the Spartan Collegiate. The two-day event hosted by Michigan State commences on Monday, March 8, at Plantation Course at Sea Island.

The tournament features two rounds on Monday, followed by the final round on Tuesday, with 8 a.m. EST shotgun starts on both days. To follow along, fans can catch the live scoring on Golfstat.com. 

THE CLUBHOUSE

No. 38 Notre Dame will be taking on the following teams: Michigan State, No. 48 Iowa, No. 37 Indiana, Rutgers, Minnesota, Ohio State, Northwestern, Iowa State, Kansas State, Memphis, Cincinnati, Miami, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan and Georgia Southern.

Representing the Irish this week will be Davis Chatfield, Palmer Jackson, Andrew O’Leary, Taichi Kho and Tucker Clark. 

In a small six-round sample size, Chatfield, Jackson and Clark all possess a round average of 72.5 or lower. Chatfield leads the way with a 72.0 average, sitting at even-par overall on the year. The senior is coming off a strong outing of carding a five-under par at Timuquana. Speaking of, Jackson also finished under-par at the last event, shooting one-under. 

As a group, the Irish had shown improvement from their first tournament to their second, going from an 867 (+3) to an 857 (-7). They’ll look to carry that momentum into Monday’s opening round.
