Irish Sweep ACC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – After an undefeated weekend for the Irish women’s lacrosse team, including a defeat of then top-ranked Northwestern on home field, the University of Notre Dame has swept the weekly conference honors as Jackie Wolak and Keelin Schlageter take home the offensive and defensive awards, respectively.

Wolak rolled out to one of her best offensive games of the season Friday night with four goals and two assists over the Wildcats as the Irish defeated the No. 1 team 14-10 inside Loftus Sports Center. The graduate student scored the eventual game-winner as part of the team’s five unanswered tallies late in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback win. She also scooped up two ground balls to help the Irish momentum throughout the contest. Wolak followed up her Friday night performance with two goals against Butler in just over a quarter of game action recorded.

A key contributor on defense over the weekend sweep for the Irish, Schlageter picked up ACC defensive honors for her five caused turnovers, three ground balls and two goals through the two-game stretch. She opened the weekend with a team-best four caused turnovers against the Wildcats en route to an impressive 14 successful clear attempts, translating defense to offense. The senior’s two ground balls ranked second among the team in Friday night’s win as the Irish snapped Northwestern’s 22-game win streak. Schlageter scored the game-tying goal against the Wildcats Friday, sparking a streak of five unanswered goals to finish on top. She followed up her Friday night performance with a goal, ground ball and one caused turnover in just over 15 minutes played Sunday against Butler to help the Irish improve to 4-0 on the season.
