Notre Dame Falls at No. 10 Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The final round of ITA Kickoff weekend did not go the way of the Irish as they drop the match 4-1 to host and #10 ranked Wake Forest.

Axel Nefve continued his good form with a dominant performance at #1 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jurabek Karimov who has a career high ATP ranking of #426 in the world. After dropping matches at 5 and 6 singles, the Irish battled on the court to extend the match as juniors Matt Che and Connor Fu would both win the first sets in their contest but lose the second to find themselves in a deciding set. Addy Vashistha would force a 3rd set as well after dropping the opening set before ultimately losing to Nava and giving the Demon Deacons the 4-1 win. The remaining matches for Che and Fu would be unfinished

Next Up:

Notre Dame will hit the road again next weekend for a single mach at Middle Tennessee State on Sunday, February 6th. The match will be played at the Adams Tennis Complex at 1pm.
