CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Notre Dame softball team placed 11 on this year’s ACC All-Academic Softball team, the conference announced today. It’s the second consecutive season the Irish have had 11 earn the accolade. Notre Dame finished the spring semester with a 3.343 GPA.
Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative grade point average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.
Shannon Becker, who recently graduated with a Marketing and film & television degree in May, became the first four-time member since the Irish joined the conference back in the 2014 season. Becker finished her career with 119 appearances and 327.0 innings pitched. She threw a no-hitter against Maine back on February 22nd.
Micaela Kastor and Emily Tran both earned their third academic conference honor, while Rachel Allen achieved her second career accolade.
Notre Dame has seven newcomers on the list; Sophomores Olivia Levitt, Sydny Poeck and Christina Willemssen as well as Freshmen Caitlyn Early, Rebecca Eckart, Avery Houlihan and Caroline O’Brien.
