Clear Bag Policy

As a part of an ongoing commitment to safety and security, aligning with the best practices at major entertainment and athletics venues, the University of Notre Dame instituted a Clear Bag Policy for Notre Dame Stadium, including Corbett Family Hall, O’Neill Hall, and Duncan Student Center during home game Saturdays and varsity sporting events in all athletics facilities.

General Accessibility

Any guests requiring special assistance are urged to make ticketing arrangements with the Murnane Family Ticket Office in advance of home basketball games.

On gameday, accessibility seat exchange options will be available at the Murnane Family Ticket Office located outside the Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center. Ticket booths will open one hour prior to gates; however, guests are still encouraged to make arrangements in advance to help maximize time on campus.

Wheelchairs

The University is unable to provide guests with wheelchairs, scooters, or walkers, or store those items belonging to guests during events. 

Open Captioning

Open captioning will be provided on the video board.

Cashless Venue

Notre Dame’s campus has transitioned to cashless transactions.  Payments in the form of credit or debit card will be accepted.  Additionally, all concession stands now accept Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Tap to Pay. 

Concessions

Concessions stands throughout Purcell Pavilion will feature a variety of menu items for purchase.  General concessions will open one-hour prior to the start of the game and remain open until the start of the fourth quarter (women’s basketball) or with approximately 10 minutes remaining the second half (men’s basketball).

Guests who display unacceptable behaviors will be subject to sanctions, including refusal of admittance, removal, and/or arrest.

Gates and Doors Open

Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center Entrances open 60 minutes prior for general ticket holders and 90 minutes prior to the game for Club Naimoli members.

Working Staff should enter at Gate 6 to be screened and checked in.

Metal Detectors

Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center utilizes metal detectors at all entrances. 

After having bags checked, guests will pass through the metal detectors and then have tickets scanned for entry to the venue. Entrants will not be required to remove belts, cell phones, coins, jackets, jewelry, watches, wallets, shoes or other small objects.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early at the venue to ensure a sufficient amount of time for screening.

Parking & Tailgating Regulations

Parking lots for all basketball games are open 2 hours prior to the event

– Shuttles will run 2 hours prior to the event from the Bulla and Innovation Park lots to the Baseball lot

– Shuttles are free of charge

– Shuttles will run post-game for 1 hour or until all fans have cleared the arena 

– At least one shuttle will be ADA accessible 

– Inbound traffic patterns will start 1.5 hours prior to the event 

– Outbound traffic patterns be in place for 1 hour post event or until all traffic is cleared

– Leahy drive between Courtney lane and Moose Krause South Drive will be closed 1.5 hours pre-event for safety purposes

– Please allow adequate time when arriving on campus to park prior to the event.  Due to limited availability in lots south of the Joyce Center, fans are encouraged to park in either Bulla or Innovation Park.  See parking map below.

Things to know:

  • Outbound traffic patterns be in place for 1-hour post-event or until all traffic is cleared
  • Leahy drive between Courtney lane and Moose Krause South Drive will be closed 1.5 hours pre-event for safety purposes
  • Parking lots for all basketball games are open 2 hours prior to the event;  Parking attendants will be available to assist guests 2 hours before all home basketball games.
Permitted Items

When planning your visit, please note the following are permitted inside Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center during home games and other major events:

  • Binoculars
  • Blankets
  • Cameras with lenses shorter than six (6) inches (without cases, must adhere to Clear Bag Policy)
  • CDC approved masks
  • Cell phones
  • Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags that do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” with logo on one side only to not exceed 4.5” x 3.4”
  • Clutch bag, with or without handle/strap, or wallet not to exceed 4.5” x 6.5”
  • Hand-held radios
  • Hand sanitizer (not to exceed 4 oz.)
  • Medical bags or equipment (subject to additional screening)
  • One-gallon clear plastic bags (such as Ziploc or Hefty)
  • Pumps for nursing mothers (subject to additional screening)
  • Seat cushions not to exceed 16” x 16”
  • Small umbrellas

 Cameras, cell phones, hand-held radios, and small umbrellas are allowed as long as they do not compromise the view or experience of others. Permitted items above, including diapers, wipes, and other supplies for babies and small children, should be placed in an approved clear bag.

Prohibited Items

When planning your visit, please note the following are NOT permitted inside Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center during home games and other major events:

  • Aerosol cans or bottles
  • Alcohol or alcohol containers
  • Animals (Service Dogs are permitted)
  • Artificial noisemakers (including whistles)
  • Bags and containers that do not meet the Clear Bag Policy
  • Cameras with lenses longer than six (6) inches
  • Drones or Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)
  • Fireworks or explosives
  • Food or beverage
  • Glass bottles
  • GoPro or selfie sticks
  • Halloween-style masks
  • Laser or pen pointers
  • Signs, banners, and balloons
  • Stadium chairs or seat backs (unless medical reason with documentation, or as a part of the stadium rental program)
  • Strollers
  • The throwing of any object at any time (including footballs)
  • Use of tobacco products and e-cigarettes
  • Use or possession of marijuana, and other illegal drugs
  • Weapons/Firearms
  • Any other items deemed dangerous or inappropriate

Wi-Fi is available at Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center on the ND-guest network.

Rockne Brat

New this season, Notre Dame Athletics is offering the “Rockne Brat” created by Levy Senior Executive Chef Travis Johnson.  Included at concession stands across Notre Dame Stadium, this delicious specialty brat will be smothered in jalapeño mustard and caramelized onions.  Part of the proceeds from each brat sold will support our student-athletes through the Rockne Athletics Fund.
