A Winning Irish Summer Rolls On

Jessica Kovalcik remains undefeated in singles at 12-0

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – It’s been a summer of winning for several members of the Notre Dame women’s tennis team.

The conversation certainly starts with rising sophomore Jessica Kovalcik, who is a perfect 12-0 in singles play. Her undefeated summer has resulted in three tournament titles, which include the Ball State ITA, Notre Dame ITA, and most recently, the Michigan State ITA.

Last spring, Kovalcik posted a 15-3 dual singles record, as her .833 winning percentage placed her in the program top-20 all-time.

Next up, Ella Rawles got in on the trophy collection after she traveled to Alabama and emerged with the Auburn ITA Masters title. In her debut season with the Blue and Gold, Rawles went 6-4 in singles and 14-7 in doubles.

Lastly, Mari-Louise Van Zyl recorded another great outing, reaching the final at the W15 Hillcrest. The rising sophomore is now 15-3 in ITF singles play this summer. This past season, Van Zyl recorded a 7-3 dual record.
