SOUTH BEND, Ind. – A seven goal and 11 point weekend has landed the University of Notre Dame women’s lacrosse’s graduate attacker Madison Ahern ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors, as announced by the conference Tuesday. Ahern scored twice in the team’s win over Liberty last Thursday before following it up with a season-best five goals and seven points against conference rival Virginia Tech as the Irish rolled to a 20-9 victory over the Hokies.
Her season high goal total came on eight shots on goal, capitalizing on over 60-percent of her attempts and was a perfect two-for-two from the free position. She also tallied two assists in both contests last week as her five goals and two assists against Virginia Tech led the team in both goals and points. Ahern also boasted two ground balls and one draw control in Blacksburg, Virginia, Saturday to close out the weekend.
Against Liberty earlier in the week, Ahern added a ground ball and a caused turnover to her four point outing.
She finished the weekend with seven goals, four assists, 11 points, three ground balls, one caused turnover and one draw control over the two-game stretch.
The honor comes as her first of the season.
