TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Notre Dame women’s golf team opened its second semester slate by shooting a 315 (+27) in the first round of the 2017 Florida State Match-Up at the Don Veller Seminole Golf Course (Par 72/6,260 yards).
After one round of play, South Carolina leads (278), followed by Florida State (282). On the individual leaderboard, Texas A&M’s Maddie Szeryk shot a 66 to take a one shot lead over South Carolina’s Ana Pelaez.
The tournament features a unique setup that also includes each team being paired with another team in pursuit of the Match-Up championship. Notre Dame has been paired with Oklahoma for this season’s tournament and the Sooners shot a 295 on Friday and are in eighth place after one round of play.
Leading The Irish Lineup
Notre Dame sophomore Emma Albrecht birdied two of her first six holes on the day, including the par-5 10th and the par-5 15th, and went on to finish with a two-over par 74. She played the four par-5’s at a two-under par clip, which tied for eighth-best in the field. She also totaled 12 pars, which tied for 13th-best in the field.

Notre Dame At The FSU Match-Up
Notre Dame previously took part in the 2013 Florida State’s Match-Up, which was played at the Southwood Golf Course in Tallahassee, Florida (Feb. 15-17). The Irish placed seventh overall and, paired with Michigan, placed fifth in the Match-Up standings. Lindsey Weaver tied for eighth to lead the Irish lineup (218/+2).
Next Up
The second and third rounds of the Florida State Match-Up will be played on Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 11-12). Live scoring for the second round will available via Golfstat .
Following the Florida State Match-Up, Notre Dame will play in the University of Wisconsin’s Westbrook Spring Invitational. The two-day event will be played on Feb. 26-27 at the Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Arizona.
