Amaral, O'Brien Tabbed to All-Conference Teams

Addison Amaral named to ACC-Third Team, O'Brien to All-Freshman Team

GREENSBORO, N.C.. – Notre Dame softball’s left side of the infield earned all-conference accolades following the 2025 regular season, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced today. Addison Amaral was voted to the All-ACC Third Team while Caroline O’Brien earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team.

Amaral has been a force in the Irish lineup during her sophomore season, hitting .366 on the season and .355 against ACC opponents. The shortstop leads the team in almost every major offensive category (runs-27, hits-56, doubles, home runs-9, RBI-43, total bases-94, walks-27). Five of her home runs have come against conference foes. The Salinas, California native had 15 multi-hit games during the season and 12 games of multiple RBI during 2025. It’s the second consecutive season of Accolades for Amaral after she earned Second Team and All-Freshman honors a season ago.

O’Brien had a breakout conference slate for Notre Dame, hitting .340 in 23 games against ACC opponents. She had four doubles, a triple and worked nine walks, bouncing between the leadoff position and the second position in the lineup down the stretch of the season. She only struck out four times in 53 at bats against ACC pitching and provided sound defense at the hot corner. The freshman had a team-best 10-game hitting streak earlier this season.

Amaral and O’Brien will look to continue their success when the Irish take on North Carolina in the First Round of the 2025 ACC Softball Championships from Brighton, Massachusetts. First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on ACC Network.
