CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Senior Julia Andreach and graduate student Page Freeman partnered up over the weekend and have earned the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Doubles Team of the Week award for their performance last weekend. The pair of Fighting Irish completed a 2-0 week at the top doubles flight, earning a pair of ranked wins against opponents from Florida State and Miami (Fla.).
This is the first Doubles Team of the Week award for the pairing. This is Freeman’s second weekly ACC award, winning Player of the Week in 2023. Andreach also earned ACC Player of the Week honors, hers coming in 2022.
The pair stays perfect at 4-0 following last week’s competition. Friday night saw Andreach and Freeman secure the doubles point with a 6-3 win over the Seminole’s 42nd ranked pairing of Maelie Monfils and Ellie Schoppe. The doubles point proved to be the winner as the Irish defeated 38th-ranked Florida State. Sunday’s finale saw a similar outcome as Andreach and Freeman started the doubles scoring with a 6-2 win over Miami’s 45th-ranked doubles team of Isabelle Pfennig and Xinyi Nong as the Irish dropped the matchup 4-3.
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association updated its team and player rankings earlier Tuesday afternoon. Andreach and Freeman are now ranked 28th nationally, despite the limited number of competitions. Andreach is also now ranked 29th individually as she sports an unbeaten 13-0 spring record, playing at the top two flights.
