Notre Dame, Ind. – Notre Dame women’s lacrosse standout, Angela Dixon (Sr., Pennsauken, N.J.) has been selected as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the final week of the 2003 season that ended May 4th.
The senior attack player saved her best for last as she led Notre Dame to a 22-11 win over 15th-ranked Vanderbilt with a career-high seven-point game, recording four goals and three assists in the victory. The win improved the Irish to 8-7 on the season as the year ended on a four-game winning streak.
Dixon picked up two assists in the first half versus Vanderbilt as the Irish rallied from 5-2 and 6-3 deficits to take an 8-7 lead at halftime. She got the Irish off to a fast start in the second half scoring just 10 seconds into the half to make it 9-7. Dixon’s second goal of the game just 4:02 into the second stanza was Notre Dame’s eighth straight goal as the Irish went from trailing 7-4 to leading 12-7 in a span of eight minutes and 19 seconds.
A Verizon Academic All-American nominee, Dixon picked up her final two goals and assist in the last eight minutes of the 22-11 win. The 22 goals set a Notre Dame scoring mark for a road game.
On the year, Dixon finished fourth on the Notre Dame scoring chart with 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points. The 14 assists and 29 points were career-highs for the seven-time Dean’s List student. For her career, the science pre-professional major and science-business major had 38 goals and 24 assists for 62 points in 48 games. She was also named the team’s Rockne Student-Athlete Award winner.
