NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Notre Dame graduate student wide receiver Avery Davis has been selected to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List. The award recognizes the nation’s college offensive player of the year who meets the awards criteria and to encourage student-athletes to succeed on and off the field, while having the drive and the tenacity to persist and overcome adversity and injury in the pursuit of reaching their goals.
Davis played in all 12 games and made four starts for the Irish in the 2020 season en route to the program’s second appearance in the College Football Playoff in the last three seasons. In his first full season playing wide receiver, he hauled in 24 catches for 322 yards and two touchdowns.
Davis was named an honorable mention for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Player of the Week after Notre Dame’s 47-40 2OT win over No. 1 Clemson (11/7/20). He hauled in a 53-yard pass to put the Irish in the red zone late in the game. Two plays later, Davis caught the game-tying touchdown to send the game into overtime.
