NORMAN, Okla. — Freshman Lauren Beaudreau fired a second round 66 (-4) at the 2019 Schooner Fall Classic, vaulting into a tie for 11th with one round remaining.
Playing at the Belmar Golf Club (par-70/ 6,048 yards), Notre Dame shot a second round 281, taking 20 strokes off their opening round (301) to move up into 12th place. The 281 ranks tied for the seventh-lowest in program history (based on stroke total).
Beaudreau opened her round with a birdie on the 10th hole and finished her first nine holes of the day at even par with a pair of birdies and a pair of bogeys to go along with five pars. Then over her final nine holes of the day (the front nine), she turned in five pars and four birdies. She had a stretch of three straight birdies on holes two, three and four and added a birdie on her final hole of the day. The 66 is tied with four other golfers for the second lowest round in program history (stroke total).
Freshman Madelyn Jones also turned in an under-par second round, shooting a 69 (-1) for her best round in an Irish uniform. She had 13 pars, three birdies and two bogeys.
Junior Abby Heck (71) and sophomore Claire Albrecht (75) also scored for the Irish. Heck bridied two of her final three holes to help the Irish to the 281.
Playing as an individual, Mia Ayer shot a second round 71, while freshman Jessica Meyers carded an 82.
The hosts from Oklahoma (282-275=557) maintained its one stroke lead over Texas (283-275=558). On the individual leaderboard, Oklahoma’s Mikhaela Fortuna (68-67=135) shot a second round 67 to take over the two-round lead, followed by Kaitlyn Papp (70-66=136) of Texas and Frida Kinhault (69-67=136) of Florida State.
The Schooner Fall Classic, which Notre Dame is playing in for a sixth consecutive season, will conclude with Sunday’s final round. Notre Dame’s tee times start at 9:50 a.m. ET and live scoring can be tracked via golfstat.

Folds Of Honor
- The Fighting Irish women’s golf program has teamed up with the Folds of Honor Military Tribute Program (FHMTP) for the 2019-20 season.
- The program provides the opportunity for collegiate golf teams to honor a fallen or severely wounded American soldier by selecting a student-athlete to carry a golf bag displaying the name, rank and branch of service of the soldier being honored throughout the year.
- Fighting Irish senior Mia Ayer will have the honor of carrying Notre Dame’s FHMTP golf bag for the 2019-20 season, which honors the memory of Captain Reid Nishizuka ’05.
- Reid Nishizuka, a U.S. Air Force Captain, died in service to his country on April 27, 2013, near Kandahar Air Base, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Reid was a recipient of 10 Air Medals, two Air Force Commendation Medals, two Air Force Achievement Medals and a Bronze Star for Heroism.
- Throughout the season, the Notre Dame women’s golf team will also raise funds with the proceeds benefiting the Folds of Honor (FOH).
- Through scholarships and other assistance, Folds of Honor gives back to the spouses and children of soldiers killed or disabled in service to our country
- Details of Notre Dame’s fundraising efforts will be released as the season progresses.
