Behrman And Schwitzenberg Earn ACC Weekly Awards

CHARLOTTE – The Fighting Irish swept the ACC Player of the Week awards, as Brock Behrman was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week and Nate Schwitzenberg earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

This marks the first time each player has earned the league honors in their careers.

Behrman posted a game-high six points off three goals and three assists to lead the Irish to an 11-8 victory on the road over No. 9 Maryland. No player in the ACC had more points in a game over the past week than Behrman.

The hat trick is the second of the season for the junior who is enjoying a breakout year. Behrman tied his career high for assists in a game with three. The attackman leads the Irish offense this season with 16 points off nine goals and seven assists.

Schwitzenberg led an impressive defensive performance in the 11-8 win over No. 9 Maryland on Saturday in College Park, Maryland. The junior recorded a caused turnover and a ground ball. Schwitzenberg was matched up on Chris Lyons, who registered just one point off a man-up goal.

The defenseman helped the Irish hold Maryland to a season low in goals. Saturday’s eight-goal performance marks just the second time since the implementation of the shot clock in the 2019 season that Maryland has scored eight goals or less in a home game.

No. 1/1 Notre Dame remains on the road for another battle against a team from the Big Ten, taking on No. 6/7 Ohio State in Columbus at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 7. The game will be streamed on B1G+.
