Notre Dame, Ind. – Beth Hunter, director of sports marketing the last seven years at the University of Notre Dame, has been named executive director of the Notre Dame Monogram Club.
In addition to managing day-to-day Monogram Club needs, Hunter will serve as an assistant athletics director for student-athlete alumni relations. In this new role, she will spearhead and coordinate outreach to all former Notre Dame student-athletes, beyond the scope of the Monogram Club. She will also oversee all special events, such as reunions and new facility dedications, which directly impact former Notre Dame student-athletes. The men’s soccer program will also fall under the administrative responsibilities for Hunter.
“We are absolutely dedicated to maintaining full-time staff support for the Monogram Club, as a strong relationship between the athletics department and the club is critical to the success of our current student-athletes as well as the preservation of our great tradition and legacy. Beth has been working with the Monogram Club in recent years as part of her marketing responsibilities, and she already is quite familiar with its staff, its programs and its goals. We are confident this change will have a positive impact on the club and its constituencies,” said Notre Dame director of athletics Jack Swarbrick.
Hunter is in her ninth year overall as a member of the Notre Dame athletics department, after coming aboard as sports promotions coordinator in July 2001. In recent years Hunter has worked closely with the Monogram Club, an organization of former student-athletes, student managers, student athletic trainers and cheerleaders who have earned a monogram because of their participation in the University’s varsity intercollegiate programs, and the club’s board of directors.
In her previous position in marketing, Hunter oversaw the creation and implementation of marketing plans for several of Notre Dame’s 26 intercollegiate sports. She also has become a voice for Notre Dame on the national level, having been named to a four-year term on the board of directors for the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) in 2006.
A 1998 graduate of Providence College with a degree in psychology, Hunter spent the 2000-01 academic year as assistant director of marketing and promotions and director of licensing at the University of Northern Colorado. There, she was responsible for overseeing the marketing, promotions, advertising, and community service for all 16 varsity sports programs, as well as proctoring the licensing program for the entire university.
While at Northern Colorado, Hunter also served as assistant tournament director for the 2001 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships, and gained experience working for NCAA productions at the NCAA Women’s College World Series and the Division I NCAA Women’s and Men’s Volleyball championships.
Prior to joining the athletic department at Northern Colorado, Hunter served as a graduate assistant in the sports marketing department at Providence from 1998-2000. While obtaining her master’s degree in business administration, she helped market the 21-sport program at the College. In addition, she also was the marketing director for the 2000 NCAA Frozen Four, hosted by Providence.
A native of Shrewsbury, Mass., Hunter and her husband, Jake, reside in Granger, Ind., and have two children, Paige and Clare.
Hunter replaces Jim Fraleigh, who had held the Monogram Club position since 2004 and who now takes over Notre Dame’s corporate and community relations as an associate athletics director in that area. Fraleigh will concentrate on strengthening a variety of external relationships while continuing to serve as the administrator for the men’s basketball program.
