Bridget Deehan Named Tewaaraton Award Nominee

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Senior goaltender Bridget Deehan has been named one of the 25 nominees for the 2021 Tewaaraton Award, The Tewaaraton Foundation announced Thursday afternoon (April 22).

Five men’s and five women’s finalists will be announced in mid-May prior to the start of the NCAA Championships. The Tewaaraton Award recipients will be chosen after the conclusion of the collegiate lacrosse season.

Deehan, U.S. Lacrosse Magazine’s Preseason Goaltender of the Year, becomes the 12th player in program history to be named a Tewaaraton Award nominee. She was named to the watch list for the honor for the second consecutive year after being tabbed a First Team All-American and Breakthrough Player of the Year by Inside Lacrosse after the shortened 2020 campaign.

In 12 contests this season, Deehan has racked up 115 saves and 24 ground balls while anchoring the Irish defense. The Milton, Georgia, native has earned double-digit saves in in six contests, including a trio of 14-save performances against #1 North Carolina, #2 Syracuse and #7 Virginia. She has been named the IWLCA’s National Defensive Player of the Week on two occasions in 2021.
