SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Adding to their season of firsts in 2024, the University of Notre Dame women’s lacrosse team is the home of the IWLCA’s Individual Community Awareness Award (DI) winner, Julia Carr. Carr, a rising senior on the Irish team has made it her mission to leave a lasting impact on not just her team and her school, but the community around her as well.
Noted as a selfless individual by coaches and teammates, Carr continuously donates her time to local initiatives and endeavors. She was elected by her teammates to serve as their Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative and was named a co-leader of Notre Dame’s SAAC in 2023-24. As the team’s service ambassador Carr would communicate team obligations and opportunities in service while assisting with the organization of team efforts.
She also served as a classroom assistant at a local learning center and assisted the team’s Fight For Life initiative. Carr was also a correspondent and helped organize the Brighter Christmas event on campus last Fall and served as a mentor through College Mentors for Kids during the Fall semester in 2023. A headstrong ambassador, Carr helped drive promotion for the team’s Hair Havoc game, offering ideas and support online and coordinating efforts with individuals and team social media platforms.
In addition to her dedication on the field and her studies, Carr recorded over 50 hours of community service and was awarded the Notre Dame Athletics Top Six for Service award for the second consecutive year and was awarded the Under Armour 25×25 Collegiate Challenge for logging the most service hours among all Under Armour student-athletes.
In addition to her community service endeavors, Carr has been a dedicated member of the Irish team for the past three seasons.
