NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Following an impressive performance at the Northwestern Invitational, sophomore foilist Jane Caulfield was named ACC Women’s Fencer of the week, the conference announced Wednesday morning.
Caulfield finished the meet with an 11-1 record, which tied for the team best for the day. After going 2-1 in her first match against Northwestern, Caulfield tallied 3-0 marks in the final three matches against Northwestern and Lawrence. The 11 wins tied a single-event high for Caulfield and she improved to 20-2 on the season.
Caulfield and the Irish are heading to Chapel Hill this weekend for the 2021 ACC Championships. Both the men’s and women’s squad are looking to defend their titles and all six individual championships from a year ago. The championship begins on Saturday, February 27 with the men’s and women’s individual championships.
