GREENSBORO, N.C. — For the third time in four weeks, Notre Dame women’s basketball guard Sonia Citron is your ACC Freshman of the Week. Citron is certainly on pace to challenge 2019 alumna Brianna Turner’s record of six ACC freshman weekly awards.
The Eastchester, New Yorker started her week by pouring in a career high 29 points in the 76-71 win at Michigan State. Citron scored 21 points in the second half, including 13 in the fourth quarter.
The freshman followed that with a 19-point performance at No. 2 UConn, the lone Irish to finish in double figures.
For the week, she shot 14-of-24 (.583), 5-for-9 from three and 15-for-16 from the free-throw line. Another impressive note, in 60 minutes of play, just one turnover.
Citron and the now No. 22 nationally ranked Irish (7-2) travel to Valparaiso on Wednesday, Dec. 8, then play host to Muffet McGraw’s Ring of Honor game on Sunday, Dec. 12, against Purdue-Fort Wayne.
