The University of Notre Dame’s John P. and Catherine Murphy Head Baseball Coach Shawn Stiffler has announced the addition of Adam Dofflemyer as a COACH Fellow in the role of Director of Pitching Development.
“I am truly honored to join the staff here at Notre Dame,” said Dofflemyer. “Coach Stiffler and his team have an established vision for success, and I am eager to contribute to our student-athletes’ growth and help them compete at the highest level nationally.”
“We are extremely lucky to have Adam join our program,” added Stiffler. “He has an advanced understanding for motor preferences and how to incorporate it into player development. His impact will be felt immediately by our players.”
Dofflemyer joins the Irish staff most recently from George Washington University, where he held the title of Director of Pitching/Player Development. Before his stint at George Washington, Dofflemyer was the pitching coach at the University of Mary Washington.
At Mary Washington, the team’s pitching staff had marked statistical improvement throughout the season as the Eagles’ hits per nine innings and ERA dropped significantly during the spring. The team posted four shutouts in 2024, and the pitchers had an ERA which ranked within the top 40 at the NCAA Division III level. Four of the Eagles’ pitchers were named all-conference while one member of the pitching corps earned All-Region.
Dofflemyer also gained valuable experience as the pitching coach for the Charlottesville Tom Sox during the summer of 2024. The Tom Sox had a league-best 3.87 team ERA and were the 2024 Valley Baseball League Champions.
He has earned a Motor Preference Experts Level 1 certification, which focuses on personal pitching development programs for each pitcher in order to find their optimal movement pattern.
Dofflemyer is a 2021 graduate of University of Lynchburg with a degree in business administration with a minor in statistics. He also holds a master’s degree in health design from Lynchburg. He made 55 total appearances for the Hornets while playing for current Irish assistant coach Lucas Jones. He posted a 7-1 record over four seasons. Dofflemyer registered 61.0 innings on the mound with a save and 56 strikeouts.
Dofflemyer began his position with the Irish in November 2024.
