SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame hockey team has teamed with Stephen Johns ’14 to support his #MentalMiles initiative by auctioning off special pregame warm-up jerseys the team wore before wins over Holy Cross on Nov. 4-5.
The Fighting Irish donned the special commemorative Under Armour jerseys featuring “Irish” on the front, with “Johns” and “#MentalMiles” on the back. Each jersey also features Johns’ #28.
There will be 21 jerseys up for auction, with each one also autographed by Johns as proceeds will benefit his mental health initiatives.

The auction will take place at auctions.und.com beginning today (Nov. 12) at 5 p.m. ET. Fans will have two weeks to bid on the jerseys, as the auction concludes at 5 p.m ET on November 26, coinciding with the start of Notre Dame’s Black Friday tilt with Boston College at Compton Family Ice Arena.
Johns recently retired from the NHL following a career that culminated with the Dallas Stars. Over this past summer, he rollerbladed across the United States and created #MentalMiles to raise awareness for mental health on social media.
Johns skated for the Irish from 2010-14, playing in 164 career games while scoring 15 goals and adding 42 assists for 57 points.
