ITA All-American Championships
TULSA, Okla. – Prequalifying has wrapped at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men’s All-American Championships, and the lone University of Notre Dame men’s tennis student-athlete left standing took his Round of 128 match to three sets before falling to an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent.
Junior Eddy Covalschi fell to Wake Forest’s Sam Bloom on Sunday, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center at the University of Tulsa. Covalschi was one of three Irish players to enter the pre-qualifying event.
Senior Alex Lawson and freshman Alex Lebedev were scheduled to play consolation matches Sunday, but results were not immediately available.
Two Irish players will continue play this week as Lawson and classmate Quentin Monaghan will play in the qualifying doubles draw, and Monaghan – the nation’s fifth-ranked singles player – will compete in the main singles draw later this week.
