Covalschi, Hagar Still Standing At ITA All-American Championships

Qualifying Singles Bracket | Qualifying Doubles Bracket

TULSA, Okla. – It was a productive day at the Case Tennis Center for University of Notre Dame men’s tennis seniors Josh Hagar and Eddy Covalschi, as the pair still stands in qualifying doubles play, while Hagar will play on in the singles bracket at the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships after play on Monday.

The qualifying round’s top-seeded duo, 26th-ranked Hagar and Covalschi picked up a pair of wins to advance to the qualifying Round of 16. The pair defeated Egbert Weverink and Joe Woolley of Utah 7-5, 6-0 in the opening round, then dispatched USC’s Thibault Forget and Logan Smith 7-5, 7-5 in the Round of 32. Hagar and Covalschi will play Denver’s 42nd-ranked Alex Gasson and Yannik James on Tuesday afternoon.

Hagar, who was the qualifying bracket’s 12th seed, defeated Texas A&M’s Max Lunkin 6-1, 6-3 to move on to Tuesday’s Round of 64. He will face Luca Corintelli of Virginia.

Covalschi, who was a late add as a qualifying round alternate, fell in the first round of singles play to 11th-seeded Mitch Stewart of Washington, 6-2, 6-3.
