Divers Shine As Irish Women Take 8th At ACCs

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team wrapped up competition at the 2024 ACC Championships on Saturday, finishing eighth with 493 points. The women notched six top-8 finishes, including four in the diving well.

On Tuesday, divers Calie Brady and Grace Courtney kicked off the meet with impressive finishes on the 3-meter. Courtney placed fourth with a score of 325.55, and Brady took eighth with a score of 319.20. On Wednesday, Courtney placed fourth in the 1-meter (292.85), and Brady finished eighth (182.25). 

In the competition pool, Madelyn Christman and Maggie Graves made Saturday finals in their best events. Christman finished fifth in the 200 back with a time of 1:53.67. She notched a best time and the second-fastest time in program history in prelims (1:53.06). Christman also went a best time in the 100 back (52.66) and finished 12th. Graves finished fifth in the 1650 with a time of 16:16.78 and notched a personal best and 10th-place finish in the 500 free. 

Jess Geriane and Grace Brenneman were C finalists in the 50 free after two best times in the prelims session — 22.56 and 22.59, respectively. Geriane also went 49.95 in the 100 free, breaking the 50-second mark for the first time. 

Up next, the swimmers will see their fate when it comes to NCAAs. All four aforementioned swimmers have NCAA B cuts. But first, the divers will head to the 2024 Zone Diving Championships in Louisville from March 14-16.
