DALLAS — Notre Dame men’s and women’s diving wrapped up their midseason meet this weekend, competing against some of the nation’s top competition at the SMU Invite. Senior Grace Courtney had the best performance of the Irish divers, winning the women’s 1-meter with a score of 284.10.
The Notre Dame women finished seventh with 63 points, and the men placed seventh with 90 points. Notre Dame was the only school competing in diving only.
Courtney also earned an eighth place finish in the 3-meter (298.60), and graduate student Calie Brady placed fifth in the 1-meter (267.40) and sixth in the 3-meter (302.50).
On the men’s side, senior Daniel Knapp placed second in both springboard events (373.45/377.90), while fellow senior Ben Nguyen placed sixth in the 1-meter (313.00) and seventh in the 3-meter (311.80). Freshman Edward Wong’s best finish was in the 1-meter with a score of 314.50.
In total on the weekend, Notre Dame divers earned nine cuts for Zone C Championships in March.
Notre Dame will have a break from competition over the holiday season and will resume with Jan. 3 meets at Miami (women) and at Tampa and versus Minnesota (men).
