ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Two University of Notre Dame women’s tennis doubles pairings are still in contention at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, with Brooke Broda and Allison Miller, and Cameron Corse and Zoe Spence each winning second-round matches at the Varsity Tennis Center at the University of Michigan on Friday.
Notre Dame’s two seeded pairs each received first-round byes, while junior Rachel Chong and freshman Ally Bojczuk competed in the first round against Marquette’s Natalija Popovic and Paula Tormos Sanchez, winning 8-4 to advance.
With all three Irish duos into the second round, third-seeded and 56th-ranked Broda and Miller defeated Ohio State’s Danielle Wolf and Mary Beth Hurley 8-4, and 9-16 seed Corse and Spence downed Illinois’ Sasha Belaya and Jade Hilton by the same score. Chong and Bojczuk fell to second-seeded Emily Metcalf and Davina Nguyen of Michigan State.
Play will continue Saturday with one round of doubles and two rounds of singles. Doubles will commence at 9 a.m. ET, followed by the first two singles rounds. As a 5-8 seed, Miller will receive a first-round bye in singles, while Bojczuk, Corse, Spence, Chong and freshman Caroline Dunleavy will each compete in the opening round.

Norell is a 2011 graduate of Purdue University and earned her master’s degree from Georgetown University in 2013.
