GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Notre Dame softball team saw eight student-athletes earn Academic All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors as announced by the league office Tuesday morning. Shannon Becker, Cassidy Grimm, Leea Hanks, Micaela Kastor, Jane Kronenberger, Lexi Orozco, Payton Tidd and Emily Tran each earned the award this season.
Becker earned her second Academic All-ACC honor, throwing in 29 games, starting 12. Grimm appeared in 28 games throughout the season, hitting at a .400 average and earning a .962 fielding percentage as a defensive replacement. Hanks started all 41 games she competed in, hitting for a .278 average with seven doubles and three home runs. Kastor added 86.2 innings in her rookie season, throwing in 29 games with 12 starts and leading the staff with three saves.
Jane Kronenberger finished with a .248 average in 42 games, driving in 17 and scoring 15 times. Lexi Orozco finished second on the team with a .370 batting average with five doubles, a triple, 14 home runs and 45 RBI. She was also second on the team in homers and RBI behind Karina Gaskins. Payton Tidd started a team-best 26 games in the circle, appearing in 31 total. She earned 15 wins, threw 152.2 innings and earned a 3.35 ERA. At the plate, she hit for a .281 average with eight doubles, three home runs and a career-best 28 RBI. Tran appeared in 38 games, starting five. She scored 20 runs as the team’s primary pinch runner and stole four bases in five attempts.
