Sept. 13, 2004
The Notre Dame baseball team continues its second week of 2004 fall practice this week, with the schedule to include simulated games on Monday (Sept. 13) and Wednesday (Sept. 15). The team’s general practice schedule in the fall is Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:30-6:30 and Tuesday/Thursday from 4:00-7:00. The outdoor drills at Eck Stadium are open to the public.
The formal structure and dates of the team’s season-ending intrasquad scrimmages will be announced shortly on und.com. Fall practice typically has ended in late Sept./early Oct.
Head coach Paul Mainieri and his assistants, David Grewe and Terry Rooney, will be stopping by und.com at times during the fall season to provide updates on the Irish team’s progress. Other upcoming offerings at und.com will include an update on the former Irish players in professional ball, a wrapup of the Notre Dame players who were active in various 2004 summer leagues and visits with the current ND freshmen.
Several former Irish players have been in the news recently, as Brian Stavisky was named MVP of the single-A California League, Danny Tamayo was assigned to the Arizona Fall League, Steve Stanley was called back up to the triple-A Sacramento RiverCats and Aaron Heilman has been recalled to the New York Mets for the second time this season.
