True freshman DL Bryce Young has made his mark through the first half of the season, seeing sustained action on special teams, and stepping into a regular rotation on the defensive line.
Young is a force on special teams, owning the second-most blocked kicks in the nation this season with three. He is one of just three players in FBS to own three or more this season, and the only freshman (the other two players are seniors)
Young plays a significant role on Notre Dame’s kickoff coverage. The Irish own the eighth-ranked kickoff defense in the nation, holding opponents to just 15.56 yards per kickoff return.
He has also played a role on defense, totaling 2.0 TFL, 0.5 sack, 16 tackles and two QB hurries.
He was named Notre Dame’s Special Teams Player of the Game vs. Miami (OH) and vs. No. 18 Army .
