Mills posted the best game of his career in the dominant 52-3 win over Florida State, notching three sacks, two coming on back-to-back plays, and totaling five tackles with a QB hurry. Mills was the only Power 4 player that weekend to post three sacks, and one of just three FBS players to do so that weekend. He was the only to do so against a Power 4 opponent. Notre Dame’s eight sacks in total were the most by any FBS team that weekend.

  • Notre Dame’s defense shone, limiting Florida State to just three points, 88 yards in the air and 120 yards on the ground. The Irish have the No. 2-ranked defense in passing yards allowed (148.6) per game.
  • Mills posted three third-down stops on the evening. Notre Dame owns the nation’s fourth-best third-down defense (0.282), and have allowed the fifth-fewest first downs of any FBS program this season (138).
  • Notre Dame held Florida State to 208 total yards, marking the fifth Irish opponent who has been unable to compile 250 total yards this season (Texas A&M 246, Purdue 162, Miami OH 229, Stanford 200). The last time the Irish held five opponents under 250 total yards was 1988.
  • Notre Dame’s 52-3 victory marks the largest margin of victory by any FBS team that weekend, let alone a victory over a Power 4 team. It was the largest margin of defeat Florida State had suffered this season.
