VERONA, Wis. – The Notre Dame women’s golf team claimed second place at the 2022 Badger Invitational title in Verona, Wisconsin as they competed Sunday, Sept. 18 to Tuesday, Sept. 20. The Irish finished shooting 874 (+10), while Montgomery Ferreira took the individual title shooting 209 (-7).
The Irish led after day one as they shot a collective 284 (-4) in round one, which was eight strokes ahead of Nebraska who was in second at 292. Lauren Beaudreau led the way after round one as shot five under at 67 and was followed by Madelyn Jones who shot just a stroke behind Beaudreau at four under (68).
Notre Dame kept the lead after round two on Monday as they shot a 287 (-1) for a collective 571 (-5). Beaudreau fell to T2 after shooting a 73 in round two, but Montgomery Ferreira took first place after day two as she shot a 66 in the second round and led the way at six under par.
On the final day of the Badger Invitational, Ferreira took the individual title shooting 71 in round 3. She collectively shot 209 leading at seven under par. Beaudreau took fourth place (213) after shooting 73 in the final round.
The Irish are back in action on Oct. 3 and Oct. 4 as they head to the Barbara Nicklaus Cup.
