SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame softball team (17-26, 6-12 ACC) heads on its final road trip of the regular season, heading to Syracuse for a three-game series against the Orange. Game one is set for Friday, April 17th at 3:00 p.m., followed by a Saturday game at 1:00 p.m. The series finale will begin at noon on Sunday. All games will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
The Irish are 31-11-1 all-time against Syracuse, including 12-6 on the road. Notre Dame hasn’t played in Syracuse since the 2022 season. 12 of Notre Dame’s 17 wins this season have come away from Melissa Cook Stadium.
The next two weekends sit as critical series for Notre Dame. The Irish currently are the last team in for the ACC Softball Championship next month in Charlottesville, Virginia, but have a three-game advantage in the win column over Syracuse and Boston College, their next two conference opponents. The six wins in conference this season are just one shy of last year’s total, with six more conference matchups to be played.
The freshman trio of Ava Zachary, Lily Hagan and Hayden Kyne have broken out in a big way for Notre Dame. Zachary has been one of the best freshmen in the conference this season, leading the team with a .404 batting average to go along with 23 RBI. In conference play, Zachary is hitting a blistering .472 with a team-high 25 hits and 15 runs scored.
Ballparks haven’t been able to contain Lily Hagan recently. She hit three home runs this past weekend against Louisville, including two in the series finale Sunday. Her six home runs this year lead the team, five of them coming against ACC teams.
Hayden Kyne has been a valuable bat for Notre Dame in her first collegiate season. The catcher/designated player has burst out in conference play, hitting .333 with 21 RBI this season. Kyne hit her third career homer in a midweek game against Valpo.
