Fischer Nominated For Prestigious Hobey Baker Award

South Bend, Ind. – Fan voting is officially underway for the annual Hobey Baker Memorial Award and Notre Dame hockey’s own Paul Fischer has been nominated. The junior defenseman is in the running for the coveted award to be named college hockey’s top player.

With his first nomination for the elusive award, Fischer currently holds the team’s top rank for goals (5) and assists (11) amongst defensemen. In his third season with the Irish, the River Forest, Illinois native ranks tied for third in points for the Irish with 16, and leads all blueliners on the team. 

Fischer joins a first-class list of recent Irish skaters to be nominated for the prestigious award including, junior forward and teammate, Cole Knuble, current Chicago Blackhawk Landon Slaggert (2024), and former All-American netminder Ryan Bischel (2024).

This year the fan vote will run from January 21st – March 8th for phase one of the ballot. Fans can cast their vote once per day for Fischer by visiting hobeybaker.com/vote or by texting 26015 to 844-623-9688.

The top ten finalists for the award will be released on Wednesday, March 18th.
