NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Atlantic Coast Conference named Notre Dame women’s soccer’s Sammi Fisher as its Co-Offensive Player of the Week. A two-time All-ACC selection, the award marks Fisher’s first weekly conference honor.
And what a week it was for Fisher, scoring three total goals in dominant wins over both Miami and Boston College.
Her goal at Miami might have been her finest of the year. Fisher bent her free-kick, just outside the 18-yard box, around the Miami wall and past a diving keeper.
Then Fisher recorded her second brace of the season just three days later against Boston College. First Fisher converted her second successful penalty kick of the season. Then she scored right before the final buzzer, with an assist from none other than Notre Dame goalkeeper Ashley Naylor.
Fisher’s three goals put her season total up to 10, which ranks fourth in the country and leads the ACC. Her 0.91 goals per game rank ninth. More impressively, her four game-winning goals rank second. In addition, her 21 total points rank 12th.
Fisher’s career numbers are one of many reasons why Notre Dame is off to a 9-1-1 start and ranked No. 20 in the nation.
Fisher and company square off against N.C. State on Friday, Oct. 1, in Raleigh. That kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET.
