STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) – Penn State and Notre Dame will renew their football rivalry with games in 2006 and 2007.
The Nittany Lions will travel to Notre Dame on Sept. 9, 2006, with the Fighting Irish playing in Happy Valley on Sept. 8, 2007.
Penn State and Notre Dame – both among the five winningest college football programs – last played in 1992, when the Irish won 17-16 in South Bend, Ind., to even the series at 8-8-1.
The two teams played every year from 1981-92, with the Nittany Lions winning eight of those games.
