NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The Canadian Lacrosse Association today announced former Irish standout Crysti Foote has been selected to the 2017 FIL Women’s Lacrosse World Cup training team.

Foote, a 2006 graduate of Notre Dame, is no stranger to the World Cup. She led Team Canada in scoring at the 2005 World Cup, despite the team finishing in fourth place overall.

While at Notre Dame, Foote set the single-season record for points (114) in 2006. She currently ranks second in Irish history in career points (237) and goals in a single season (74) and fourth in assists in a single season (40).

Foote, a native of Mimico, Ontario, is a two-time First-Team All-Big East selection as well as a two-time All-American. She was named a finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy and was chosen as the IWLCA Attack Player of the Year following her senior year.

Irish head coach Christine Halfpenny emphasized the lasting impact of Foote’s legacy at Notre Dame.

“ND lacrosse is excited to congratulate Crysti on a great accomplishment in making the Canadian Lacrosse training team,” Halfpenny said. “While I did not have the opportunity to coach Crysti at Notre Dame, she has left a remarkable legacy that stems from her hard work ethic, competitive attitude and desire to win. Her record-setting performances speak for themselves and are impressive standards for our current team to aspire towards.

“We wish Crysti all the best as she trains for the 2017 World Cup and are thrilled to have her represent Notre Dame with the FIL.”

The final roster, which will be narrowed down to 18 players, will compete at the 2017 FIL Women’s Lacrosse World Cup in Guildford, England, as well as at the 2017 World Games in Wroclaw, Poland.
