Gabriel Rubio was selected in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 210th overall selection.

Rubio is the 40th Notre Dame football player to be selected by Pittsburgh. The most recent Irish Player to be selected by the Steelers was Chase Claypool in 2020.
He finished his Irish career with Rubio appeared in 39 games while starting in eight games. He recorded seven tackles for loss. The six foot five defensive lineman had a forced fumble. He had 1.5 sacks and 66 tackles. He ended his career with three pass break ups recording one in the last three seasons.
Rubio played in six game in 2025, making five starts. He missed the final six games of the season due to injury. The St. Louis native finished with 13 tackles – five solo and eight assisted. He had half a sack, half a tackle for loss and broke up one pass. He registered a season-high four tackles at Miami. Rubio tallied three tackles and half a sack against Purdue.
In October of 2025, he was named to the Hispanic College Football Player of the Year Watch List.
In 2024, Rubio played in 11 games, starting three. He totaled 24 tackles, posting a sack and a pass breakup. He notched the first sack of his career in the a CFP bid sealing win over USC.
