SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Head coach of the University of Notre Dame softball team Kris Ganeff rounded out her coaching staff with the addition of Mo Wimpee Wednesday afternoon. Wimpee joins the staff after a playing career at Purdue University where she played under current assistant coach Boo De Oliviera.
“I’m so excited for Mo to begin her coaching career with us.” Ganeff said, “She’s a young coach with a lot of new and creative ideas to help challenge us and make us better. Having played under Coach Boo (De Oliviera) at Purdue gives her a familiarity with us and our program. I can’t wait for her to get to campus to start working with our student-athletes.”
“I’m can’t wait to begin coaching with a program as tremendous as Notre Dame.” Wimpee said, “I want to thank Coach Kris (Ganeff) and the administration for bringing me into this program. This is a special place and I can’t wait to get started working with these amazing student-athletes.”
Wimpee has worked as an individual skills coach since her graduation from San Diego in the spring of 2024. As an individual coach, she’s designed skill sessions for athletes of all ages, helping to build championship mindsets and grow the game.
She joins the Irish coaching staff after a collegiate career at Purdue and a graduate season at San Diego where she was named a team captain. In her final season, she appeared in 23 games in the circle, making 11 starts for the Toreros and earned West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week honors after allowing just six hits in a nine-inning, two-earned runs win over Arizona State.
