Freshman forward Cam Morrison, a native of Aurora, Ontario, has played in all nine games so far this season and has scored three goals and added seven assists for 10 points. In Notre Dame’s recent 5-2 win at Northeastern on Nov. 12, Morrison notched his first career game-winning goal. He was selected in the second round (40th overall) by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Q: What’s the best hockey game you’ve ever watched?
A: I went to the World Junior [Championship] semifinals in Toronto a couple years ago. It was really cool to watch that game live, there was a lot of skill there.
Q: What’s the best hockey game you’ve ever played in?
A: Last year I played in the U18 World Championship semifinal game against Sweden. We lost in a shootout but it’s probably the best game I’ve ever played in.
Q: What’s something the hockey team does to bond together besides playing hockey?
A: I think just getting meals together and hanging out in the dorms, I think that’s really effective on and off the ice. The guys get to know each other and get to love each other in a brotherly way.
Q: Who was your favorite hockey player when you were growing up?
A: It was actually Joe Sakic. I watched him play internationally and he always did well. The [Toronto Maple] Leafs weren’t always doing so well, so it was nice to watch that.
Q: If you could have any job in hockey aside from being a player, what would you want to be?
A: I would want to be a coach. Being at the rink every day, even if I’m not a player is something I love, just being a part of hockey and coaching players to play to win would be pretty cool.
Q: Who’s your favorite musician?
A: I’d say Chance the Rapper.
Q: In your mind, who’s the second best hockey player of all time?
A: Second best? Just statistically wise I’d say Gordie Howe. I never got to see him play, but just from what I’ve heard. And they call him Mr. Hockey and that’s got to be for a reason.
Q: What’s your favorite place to spend Flex Points?
A: Grace Hall or Subway. There’s a little restaurant in Grace Hall you can get wraps or subs and they’re pretty good.
Q: How is playing hockey at Notre Dame different than playing on the teams you’ve previously played for?
A: Everything goes faster here, as a student-athlete there’s definitely a lot on your hands while you’re here but I love it here so far. I feel like it’s a big step in my career coming here.
Q: Do you have any favorite sports to watch besides hockey?
A: I enjoy watching baseball, I’m a big [Toronto Blue] Jays fan.
Q: If you could have been on any Stanley Cup-winning team from the past, which would you choose?
A: I’d say Chicago. I feel like they have one of the best forward cores in the league. It was unbelievable two years ago and being on that team would’ve been something special.
Q: What do you like to do with your free time?
A: When I get free time I like to relax, just watching Netflix or hanging with friends in the dorms. At home sometimes I go golfing, which I love.
