NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame men’s lacrosse attackman Brendan Gleason has been named a Scholar All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association on Thursday afternoon. In 1989 the USILA Scholar All-America Program was established to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically and athletically and as citizens of their communities. The USILA selection committee selects an overall team representing Division I, II and III.
The criteria are:
- A Scholar All-American must be nominated by his coach and be a student with senior year academic standing and a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale).
- He will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution and to college lacrosse both on and off the field.
- He must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team or an outstanding league or conference player.
Gleason played in 56 games during his career at Notre Dame. The attackman finished his career with 104 points off 72 goals and 32 assists. Gleason earned his third straight ACC All-Academic Team selection earlier this month. Gleason also picked up All-ACC honors while being named a USILA Honorable Mention All-American.
The University of Notre Dame men’s lacrosse team pursues excellence on and off the field through the three pillars in which the program is built: Character, Culture & Community. These three foundational values guide the promise of the program, which is to provide its student-athletes with the most compelling and enriching experience in all of college athletics. Through academics, competition, service and travel, the program aims to immerse its players in situations that enhance their student-athlete experience to help them become the people, students and teammates they aspire to be.
