SOUTH BEND, Ind. — With the home opener two weeks away, Notre Dame informally kicked off its 2024-25 season on Friday night with the annual Blue/Gold Meet. The Gold Team defeated the Blue Team, 213-202 in the swimming and diving portion, plus Gold entered the meet with 52 bonus points from a dryland session.
The Blue Team started the meet with a victory, as Madelyn Christman, Gigi Baldacci, Hollie Widdows and Grace Brenneman won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:42.80. From there, Blue won eight events, while Gold earned 10 victories between the women and the male divers.

- Men 1-meter — Ben Nguyen (93.50)
- 100 IM — Hollie Widdows (58.06)
Of note, six individual events were won by swimmers new to Notre Dame. Transfers Kolbeck and Meers were conference champions at their former schools and are big additions to the Irish this year. Mullins transferred in from Virginia, the nation’s top women’s program. Widdows, a freshman, won a pair of events, while fellow rookie Kitayama earned the 150 breast victory.
Notre Dame opens its season on Oct. 11 against Miami (OH) at the Rolfs Aquatic Center. The meet begins at 3 p.m.
